Yes. Typography is really dead!, at least analogue one for sure.
It took 12 straight hours to cut these letters from the paper, and
I can feel the pain from my finger and shoulder. errrrrr
I will never feel these kinds of pains with digital since I just need
to type using my pretty keyboard.(oh, my fingers get fat though…)
While I was cutting this, I had to keep ask myself a question for this project
otherwise I couldn’t finish it. (I needed a motivation.)
Finally, I think I realized how typography can be tangible and beautiful
when I can physically feel it. Although,we use the word “interactive” in
media art when it only gives interactive between screen and audience,
I can say this work was purely interactive between me and the each letters.
I can probably draw whole character set of helvetica(font that I used)
without open my eyes after cutting these hundreds of letters.
One last thing,
Even though helvetica was not my favorite font, it became one of my favorites!
Fell in love with helvetica… :)
